5 reasons I loved the Kite Kite falls trek ….

1.They are so close by, just an hours drive from Auckland city, Kite kite falls are located in the Waitakere Ranges close to Piha Beach.

2. Its a child friendly reasonably easy 45 minute trek to the base of the waterfall. So load up on some good brekkie, maybe a smoothie and you are off. If you are a busy mum like me then its an added bonus because its family fun time and you can count it as an exercise too!! Score!  Just be careful some of the steps towards the base of the waterfall are quite slippery.

3. Great chilly pool at the base of the waterfall offers some great splashing about for the kids and adults alike watch out for the eels tho..

4. Beautiful and majestic Kauri trees, nikau palms, silver ferns and puriri trees along the trek.

5. As you are trekking along you can hear the Tui bird and other native birds calling from above.

We went in April when the weather was lovely and cool.

I believe at the moment the Trek is closed due to initiatives taken by Auckland Council to prevent the spread of Kauri die back so please check the Auckland Council website before you set out.

Have you been to Kite Kite falls? What did you think? What do you think of my photos and video? Let me know in the comments below.
